Dr. Elizabeth Nixon

Dr. Elizabeth Nixon is a Lecturer in Developmental Psychology in the School of Psychology and a Senior Research Fellow at the Children's Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin.

She holds a B.A. and Master’s Degree in Psychology, both from University College Dublin, and a PhD in Psychology and Diploma in Statistics from Trinity College Dublin.

Her research interests centre on family processes and parenting. She has conducted and published on a number of studies on parenting within different family forms, the most recent of which is an IRCHSS-funded study of parenting of infants among immigrants in Ireland. She is also on the management team of the Growing Up in Ireland Study, the first national longitudinal study of children in Ireland. This study is tracking the development of 11,000 nine-month olds and 8,500 nine-year olds and their families over a number of years. She is also a member of the Board of Professional Conduct of PSI and a co-editor of the Irish Psychologist.
