Continuing Professional Development

A system for monitoring Continuing Professional Development (CPD) has existed within PSI since 2004. In January 2005, following a vote of members in November 2004, CPD became mandatory for all Registered members of the Society.

The first CPD cycle covered the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. The second 3 year cycle began in 2007 and was completed in December 2009 wn logs due for submission in January 2010.

The third 3 year cycle began in January 2010 and is due for completion in December 2012. Following the completion of the first CPD cycle the scheme was reviewed and member’s views of completing the CPD logs were obtained. Dr. Joseph Duffy, former Director of Professional Development, created an up-dated CPD information booklet. The booklet contains a list of CPD activities and the credits allocated. This list is for guidance purposes and is not exhaustive. It does not exclude activities not accounted for. Such activities will be assessed against the list and credits will be awarded accordingly.

The information booklet also contains details of how to apply for credits for CPD events you may wish to offer. All the required forms pertaining to CPD activity (log books, application forms for CPD credits, registration forms etc) are available to download on the PSI website along with a current listing of all CPD events that have been awarded credits. Ending of the PSI/BPS Mutual Agreement on CPD.

The PSI mutual agreement with the BPS regarding the recognition of each others’ CPD scheme’s has now ended as per the original agreement. Please see the letter below for full details.
