St John of God Community Services CLG, Kerry Services provides a wide range of programmes and supports to adults and children with an intellectual disability in the Kerry region. Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Psychologist to support the development and delivery of effective, efficient and person‑centred psychological services for children and adults with an intellectual disability.

This role focuses on delivering supports for individuals presenting with behaviours of concern, mental health needs, resilience development requirements and dementia. The successful candidate will also play a key role in supporting staff training and supports.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Professional Practice

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence‑based and person‑centred psychological supports
  • Conduct psychological assessments
  • Deliver evidence‑based therapeutic interventions adapted for intellectual disability

Interdisciplinary & Collaborative Working

  • Work as an active member of multidisciplinary teams
  • Collaborate with families, staff and external services
  • Support integrated and holistic approaches to care

Staff Support, Training & Development

  • Deliver structured training to build staff competence in relevant areas
  • Facilitate reflective practice sessions
  • Support teams in managing complex situations, using therapeutic frameworks

Leadership & Service Development

  • Maintain appropriate clinical records, statistics and waiting lists
  • Demonstrate leadership and promote a positive team dynamic
  • Initiate proposals seeking new resources that may be needed.

Candidate Requirements

  • A recognised postgraduate qualification in Clinical, Educational or Counselling Psychology
  • Eligibility for registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and is validated by the Department of Health and Children
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disability
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team working
  • Ability to deliver training and provide supervision
  • Full licence for a manual vehicle
