In advance of the Society’s 50th Anniversary, the PSI Science & Public Policy Committee (SPPC) developed a proposal to mark the anniversary by carrying out an analysis of psychological research conducted on the island of Ireland during the Society’s history. To support the dissemination of the learning from this project, the SPPC worked with the Sixsem production company to create an animated video.

For the first time in the Society's 50-year history, this year saw the PSI Annual Conference go online! On Friday 20 November 2020, Dr Ahmed Hankir gave an incredibly gripping and compelling keynote address entitled The Wounded Healer: Expert by Personal and Professional Experience Embracing Vulnerability. He discussed the stigma and shame attached to psychological problems in mental healthcare professionals. Through engaging and powerful storytelling, and infectious enthusiasm, Dr Ahmed Hankir spoke about his recovery journey from 'suicidal service user with mental illness' to 'Royal College of Psychiatrists award winning doctor’.

To mark 50 years of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), the Society commissioned a documentary to be produced. It was planned to officially screen the documentary in May 2020, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic the screening was postponed. It is hoped to have a gala screening of the documentary in 2021, but until then we hope you enjoy the official trailer.
